Shepherd Of My Soul

As she lay upon her deathbed silently weeping.
Reminiscing of past memories – the good the bad.
Now feeling so weak drifting to unconsciousness.
She has a vision; a radiance appears before her eyes.
It was of a book, her book – a book of life.
This was her life story opening up before her eyes.
It told of her trials and tribulations.
The hurdles she had crossed big and small.
Then the vision changes to footprints in the sand.
A disfigured man now walked beside her.
He held her hand and gently smiled.
She could see he was bleeding from head to toe.
Yet he did not complain instead he comforted her.
He was there for her and she knew who he was.
How many time had she complained, where are you.
During the hard times those troubled storms of her life.
She asked him how long do I have to suffer.
How long will I carry the burden of such pain?
Have I not been through so many trials already?
When will I find a little happiness?
To rejoice in life to smile again.
Questioning questions yet still unanswered.
But she was answered for now she knew.
The good Shepherd had never left her side.
He had always walked by her side.
She felt ashamed of her trials and tribulations.
Her hardships were not easy to face.
But he had to face crucifixion for us all.
An innocent man carried the sins of the world on his shoulders.
From womb to tomb he carried this burden alone.
From carpenter to king of the Jews.
His flesh torn out from the surge of the whip.
Taunted and beaten battered and abused.
Denied and betrayed by the people that he loved.
Then nailed to a cross to die for our sins.
He did not waver or complain.
When He did to speak to God our Father.
It was to ask him to forgive us.
His suffering shames me for I complain of pain.
I know not of what true pain is.
Nor am I fit to wash his feet.
He suffers for me for us all.
His spirit gives me strength to endure.
I feel his power inside me as he holds my hand.
Who am I to complain when He is with me.
He is my path to salvation in His footsteps I follow.
In sickness and in health.
For I have found favor in His eyes…
